Summer has officially begun at 44 King Street with the launch of Made in Stirling’s Summer Market! The market features 20+ new artists from across Scotland who will be joining the collective until September 4th. The market has a range of products on offer from original paintings, to ceramics, to glass pieces - there’s something for everyone.

With the Summer months being such a busy time for local businesses, we thought we’d have a think and make a list of some of our favourite local independent places to shop. Here are some of our favourite independent business that you should definitely pop-in and check out if you’re visiting our city this Summer:

Summer Market at Made in Stirling

Made in Stirling’s annual Summer Market is now open! Running until the 4th September, over 20 new artists are joining the collective selling work that ranges from ceramics, original paintings, textiles, and more.

The Summer Market is open 10-5pm, 7 days a week across the week.

The Smith Art Gallery and Museum

The Smith functions as a gallery, museum, and cultural centre for the Stirling area. It serves as the repository for the historical artefacts and paintings of Stirlingshire, while also offering exhibition opportunities for contemporary artists.

Their newest exhibition, ‘The Glory of the Ride by DJ Scooby’, celebrates the dance music scene in the 1980s and 1990s through DJ Scooby’s gig posters, and opens 16th June.

The Book Nook

The Book Nook is an independent bookshop and coffee shop situated on Upper Craigs in Stirling city centre. It is co-owned by Leanne Brown and Jasmine Stenhouse, who met at Stirling University and graduated in 2016 with a degree in English.

It is intended to be a casual and cosy space for people across all stages of life to immerse themselves in the comfort of fictional stories with a good cuppa. There’s a variety of seating in the shop to suit everyone – so whether you are studying, working, chatting, people watching, or reading, there’s a spot for you!

The Woodhouse Kippen

The Woodhouse Coffee Shop and Farm Shop is set within a contemporary building surrounded by some of Stirling's finest scenery. It provides a delicious range of homemade food, delicate cakes, and good coffee within our Coffee Shop. You can also browse their Farm Shop with its wonderful delicatessen, real ales, local produce, wines, cheese and fresh bread.

Central Scotland School of Craft

The Central Scotland School of Craft is a new hub for creative learning in the picturesque city of Dunblane. Their programme of boutique craft workshops ranges from one day to week-long courses, for everyone from complete beginners to established professional makers. ‘A list’ crafters from all over the country are lined up to deliver a range of courses with a focus on heritage and endangered crafts, and skilled hand-making.

Abbey Road Market

With it's unique approach to shopping and dining, Abbey Road Market based in Riverside, Stirling, consists of converted shipping containers and trendy repurposed retail spaces.

The makers market runs every Saturday 11-5pm.
