Become part of our pottery studio through a membership!
We have three levels available.
Level 1 - studio membership
Membership includes
Shared studio access for up to 24 hours per month.
Access between 10-5pm, Mon-Sun.
Studio capacity initially limited to a maximum of 8 members working at one time.
Minimum booking slot of 1 hour.
Personal storage shelf approximately 50cm x 50cm x 50cm.
Shared drying and firing storage space.
Access to studio equipment, basic tools and communal glazes.
Technical guidance and operational support from the studio manager and interns.
Opportunity to participate in the wider Made in Stirling ceramics community.
Independent Working Requirement:
Members must demonstrate they can:
Operate safely and responsibly within the studio.
Use studio equipment independently.
Follow Glazing procedures correctly.
work confidently without supervisions from interns or staff.
Cost:
£65/month, £195 for three months.
Payable monthly by direct debit.
membership fees remain fixed regardless of of usage within the allocated hours.
One off induction fee of £35, which covers:
Safe studio working practices
Equipment use
Cleaning procedures
Storage systems
Firing procedures
studio etiquette and shared responsibilities.
Additional costs
Firings:
Bisque firing: £7 per half shelf
Glaze firing: £9 per
£2 per item for pots that explode or damage kiln shelves.
Clay
Clay is not included in membership
Purchased through the studio
Reclaimed clay may occasionally be available at reduced cost
Use of alternative clay bodies must be discussed in advance with Studio Manager to ensure kiln compatibility and avoid contamination.
Level 2 - Extended studio membership
Suitable for committed makers developing a more regular ceramics practice who require increased flexibility and access.
Membership includes
All benefits of level 1 membership, Plus:
Extended studio access with no weekly hour limit during opening hours.
Increased personal storage allocation.
Greater flexibility for ongoing projects and larger bodies of work.
Opportunity to develop a more sustained professional or creative practice within the studio community and engagement with Made in Stirling staff and volunteers.
One bisque and one glaze firing each month (one shelf each)
Cost:
£120/month, £360 for three months.
Payable monthly by direct debit.
One off induction fee of £35, which covers:
Safe studio working practices
Equipment use
Cleaning procedures
Storage systems
Firing procedures
studio etiquette and shared responsibilities.
Additional notes
Access remains subject to studio capacity and booking procedures.
Membership does not include a dedicated permanent workspace.
Members are expected to contribute positively to the studio community and assist in maintaining shared spaces.
Level 3 - Resident potter membership
Suitable for established ceramic practitioners, emerging professionals, or makers developing a substantial body of work or ceramics business.
Membership includes
All benefits of level 1 and level 2 memberships, Plus:
Dedicated personal workspace within the studio including expanded storage.
24-hour building access (subject to building policies and security procedures)
Greater flexibility for large-scale or long-term projects.
Opportunity to contribute to the development of the ceramics programme and community.
Resident Potter Expectations:
Model excellent studio practice and community behaviour.
Maintain their dedicated workspace to a high standard.
Support the positive culture of the studio.
Work independently and responsibly within the premises.
Resident potters may also have opportunities to:
Exhibit or sell work through Made in Stirling seasonally through exhibition opportunities.
Contribute to workshops, demonstrations, or. community events.
Support mentoring or peer learning within the studio community.
Cost:
£200/month, £600 for three months.
Payable monthly by direct debit.
One off induction fee of £35, which covers:
Safe studio working practices
Equipment use
Cleaning procedures
Storage systems
Firing procedures
studio etiquette and shared responsibilities.
