DATES: OPENING NIGHT - FRIDAY 28th March
CLOSING - Sunday 10th May
WHEN BEASTS SPOKE is the debut solo exhibition by contemporary artist and writer Charlotte, whose oil paintings give voice to the animals of the Scottish landscape. Rooted in the textures of wild places, her work captures fleeting moments of both stillness and vitality.
Working primarily in oils, she embraces the spontaneity of painting alla prima; capturing the immediacy of a moment in nature with bold strokes and playful textures. Her paintings are often completed in a single sitting, rendering fleeting expressions of beauty: the turn of Stag’s head, the poised alertness of Hare, the quiet watchfulness of an owl at dusk.
With each work, Charlotte imagines the thoughts and perspectives of the animals she portrays. These visual stories are layered with themes of mindfulness, gratitude, and presence - reflecting on the wisdom found in the wild and encouraging a more thoughtful connection to the natural world.
When Beasts Spoke invites you to pause and consider the world through non-human eyes. It is a celebration of the quiet lessons nature offers, if only we take the time to listen.
