Orla Stevens
Orla Stevens is a multidisciplinary Scottish artist, illustrator and visual designer. Her work looks to connect people to nature: Inspired by the importance of creative play, exploration, improvisation and positivity that both her artistic process and being in the outdoors share.
Inspiration is found in nature and observing moments of everyday, often documented through sketchbooks as sketches and as writing.
Musicality, rhythm, improvisation and harmony are important considerations in Orla's practice, especially in abstract works. Patterns from the landscape, walking, music or field recordings are heard or seen and feature through work as textures, repeating marks, shapes and motifs. Orla holds a BA with Honours from Edinburgh College of Art in Textiles and Surface Pattern Design which influences her painting practice, informing her approach to composition and colour work.
