Lino-print workshop: Flora and Fauna

  • Made in Stirling 44 King Street Stirling, Scotland, FK8 1AY United Kingdom (map)

Join us at Made in Stirling to learn how to draw, carve and print your own lino repeat- pattern design in this workshop hosted by printmaker Abbie Lois.

A lino print workshop inspired by the natural world. We will be printing our repeat patterns on to a sustainably-sourced cotton tote bag.

Lino printing is a hands-on printmaking technique, drawing on to a linoleum surface a
design that is then carved out using carving tools. Ink is then rolled on to the carved linoleum (lino), then the design is pressed by hand on to the fabric surface.

This session will introduce you to the materials, tools and methodology for lino printmaking. Everyone will leave the workshop with their own piece of artwork, and can even take their carved lino home to keep using their design. No previous experience required, and all materials are provided for this session - just bring yourself! Make sure you wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy, however the ink is water-based so should come off in a wash if you do get some on your clothes.
