Wrapping Paper Printing Workshop with Abbie Lois 18/05/24

£30.00

Date: Saturday 18th of April, 12:00-15:00pm.

Artist: Abbie Lois

Cost: £30

Join printmaker Abbie Lois at Made in Stirling for a Spring-themed repeat-pattern making lino workshop, where we will handprint our own wrapping paper.

This session will introduce you to the materials, tools, and methodology for lino printmaking. Lino printing is a hands-on print making technique, drawing a design onto a linoleum (lino) surface that is then carved out using carving tools. Ink is then rolled or stamped onto the carved lino, then the design is pressed by hand onto your chosen surface, such as paper or fabric. In this session we will also learn how to create a repeat-pattern.

No experience needed - this workshop is ideal for beginners, as a refresher or if you’d like to learn how to best create repeat-patterns for printmaking.

All materials provided, including inspiration imagery - but if you have an idea for what you’d like to make, please feel free to bring along some images. Our block print will be approx 75x75mm.

Make sure you wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy, however the ink is water-based so should easily come off in a wash if you do get some on your clothes.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.

Everyone will leave the workshop with their own printed wrapping paper and gift tags, and can take their carved lino home to keep using their design if they wish.

The class will be 2 1/2 hours, but if you finish earlier you can stay to watch other people’s designs come to life, or maybe have a browse in the wonderful Made in Stirling shop!
