Artist: A Moment Entwine

Aimed at: Adults or teens age 14+

Learn the mindful art of macramé and create a beautiful wall hanging in this 3.5 hour workshop with Grace. Macramé is a versatile art form using knotted string to create structure and designs.

In this workshop you’ll learn some beginner and intermediate knot techniques, Square knots, Spiral Knots, Larks Heads and Clove Hitches. After a bit of practice, we will create a beautiful wall hanging from the same design created by Grace. All materials will be provided as well as some refreshments too. This is a beginner- intermediate level workshop, there will be a lot of knot tying coming your way with 80 meters of string in each wall hanging. You do not need to have done Macrame before as Grace will take you through all the knots and offers lots of 1-1 guidance with each student. The class is 3.5 hours long but there is an extra 30 mins after the workshop if anyone needs more time. If you’d like a slightly easier introduction to Macrame, check out Grace’s plant hanger workshop in July, in which we learn two knots and there’s much less string.

What you’ll get:

  • Instruction in knot tying

  • All materials provided (string, dowel, driftwood)

  • Refreshments (Water, Tea, Coffee and Biscuits, if you have any dietary requirements please add a comment to your booking)

  • A Wall Hanging to take home

  • Print outs of the knot techniques

  • A new hobby that you can do at home

About the artist:

Grace is an aerial circus performer who, during the lockdown, began macramé as a hobby to improve her wellbeing and has loved it so much she founded her small business A Moment Entwine. When Grace isn’t dangling from the ceiling she makes things to dangle from the ceiling! As well as plant hangers Grace makes bunting, pockets, coasters, curtain ties, hearts, wall hangings and Macraweave landscapes (you can see her pieces in Made in Stirling). Once you’ve done this workshop, you’ll have the skills to develop your own macramé designs to transform your home or create thoughtful gifts.

Cancellations must be made at least 3 days prior to receive a full refund. If you have any questions or want more information, please email curator@creativestirling.org.
