Loose botanical watercolour workshop

  • Made in Stirling 44 King Street Stirling, Scotland, FK8 1AY United Kingdom (map)

Artist: Melissa Gilliver

Time: 11:00-2:00pm on the 25th of August

Length: 4 hours

Price: £45

Join Melissa Gilliver in a brand new watercolour workshop. This workshop will teach you watercolour techniques that you can keep practicing and improving at home, as well as an A4 watercolour painting to take home on the day itself.

The workshop will be structured like this:

  • The first 10 minutes will be spent introducing Melissa and her Artistic journey and explaining why she decided to host watercolour workshops. She will then explain the workshop's objectives and stages & tell you where she gets some of her inspiration from.

  • In the following hour together you will practice a few quick simple watercolour techniques and brushwork that will wow you! This will be a good warm up for the final painting project.

  • Then the real fun can begin! You will spend the remainder of the workshop creating a flower portrait using the techniques just learned. Melissa will give you a roughly outlined sketch of thistles so you have a basic composition to start your painting. She chose the thistle for this specific workshop in Stirling, as this flower has with time become a symbol of Scotland's fierce independence, resilience, and sense of self-determination.

She will provide you with a hard board and protective sleeve to take your A4 size painting home, safely protected.

Her workshops are suitable for beginners to intermediate level, so please don’t feel like you require any previous experience with drawing or painting to attend. Locals as well as Tourists visiting Scotland can attend, as this means that they will leave the country with a memorable, self-created, and unique Souvenir to take home with them.

After attending one of Melissa’s Workshops you will have a new artwork to hang on your wall and show off on social media (don't forget to tag her!) :-)
