Honours Art & Design Degree Show 2024

  • Made in Stirling 44 King Street Stirling, Scotland, FK8 1AY United Kingdom (map)

This exhibition showcases the work of University of Stirling & Forth Valley College Art & Design Honours students. We are delighted to share the talent, skill and vision of these fourteen graduating artists and photographers.

Kara Boland’s meticulous and delicate anthotypes mark the passage of time. Rachel Milne provides a reminder of the calm and beauty which surrounds us in the earth we inhabit. Charles McGuigan delights in the human story behind the picture, where every face has a world of stories to tell.  Hana Thomson makes vital work which utilises DIY bookmaking and digital collage to highlight women’s’ reproductive rights.

Marina McLaren offers us a portal to the otherworldly, drawing from ancient folklore and mythology. Amy Dempster too uses the mythological figure of the mermaid, to creature exquisite painted self-portraits. Callum Milligan’s skilful use of analogue photographic techniques slow us down and make us attend to the subjects he brings into the frame. Michael Stewart’s sculptures attempt to comprehend the cosmic by hand on a human scale. Amy Wilkie uses colour, print and the often overlooked phenomena of doodling to explore the experience of neurodivergent ways of experiencing life.

Duncan Mcnab Stewart uses sculpture to embody, materialise and make visible the seemingly distant but very real plight of rising sea levels due to climate change. Coral Allen uses personal histories to explore the experience of her Jamaican and Scottish identity. Maida Iqbal Nazir explores personal experiences of emotions and how one can express these through painting. Sophie Wallace turns her lens to everyday objects and the relationship we have to them, what stories do the things we have, tell us about ourselves? Sasha Henderson, finally, uses domestic and sculptural materials to confront us with our own discomfort with the interior of the human body.

Join us in celebrating these incredible artists and photographers work. We hope you enjoy the show and thank you for visiting.
