Katherine is the creator of BRAW ARTWORKS and she works in the historic camera-less photographic process cyanotype. She is from Scotland and uses the flowers plants from her own garden and the Scottish countryside to create many of her pieces. She works with cyanotype on paper, fabric and also with photographic (darkroom) paper creating cyanolumens.
She loves the unpredictability of the process and finds joy when artworks turn out differently from what she expected! She uses the sun to expose prints, even in the winter, and a process which could take 10 minutes in high summer can take days over the Scottish winter days which adds to the pleasure of the whole cyanotype process.
She has explored the use of drawings, photo negatives and even x-rays as part of her practice and loves how the process translates to different surfaces.
