MIRIAM EMERTON

Miriam is a landscape artist who mainly works in acrylic and oil. Living locally in rural Stirlingshire, she is inspired by the beauty of her surroundings. Her frequent road trips to the islands also regularly feature in her work. Miriam studied at Leith School of Art in Edinburgh and has now been working solely as an artist for the last 8 years.

Miriam is inspired by the memories places hold and captures the feelings a landscape evokes; she is drawn to islands and hillscapes and how these silhouettes help shape our memory of places. Colours and textures are particularly important aspects of Miriam’s work. She will often work in mixed media and different mediums, using a variety of tools.

Over time Miriam has come to love the ‘golden hour’ of the day and the unique colour and light this time of day creates. These three artworks are an attempt to capture some of these ‘golden moments’ of light and colour, allowing to dwell in them a little longer.
